I Can See

I carried a forever torch

That would not burn out

And I walked through my life

with memories of you...

I kept one packed suitcase

that sat by the doorway

Just knowing that one day

You would come for me...

But now that you've returned

with more empty pathways

I can see.......

And after all this time

I am finally free...

I used to stare up at heaven

And question what angels really were

And walked on my own

Through the fire and rain of my life's storms...

I would sit quietly by the window

and wait for my last chapter

Where your footsteps would hurry

To be on that important page...

But now that you're here

with more shadows to share

I can see.......

I am finally free...
